Social Development officers in Busia to benefit from Capacity Building Support by PALWECO

Social development officers in Busia County are set to benefit from capacity building support from the Programme for Agriculture and Livelihoods in Western Communities in Kenya (PALWECO).

The team from Nairobi was in Busia on an awareness creation and education mission, among various audience including opinion leaders, beneficiaries and the Media . 

Part of the PALWECO support will include training of staff and acquisition of equipment such as computers among other institutional requirements.

The training is expected to boost Social Protection efforts through enhancing skills of staff in handling issues and activities related to social protection.

Plans for the capacity building support were revealed at a courtesy call to PALWECO office in Busia on 26th July 2013, by a team of officers from the Social Protection Secretariat and the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children Secretariat , who were on awareness mission in the area.

Though no definite timing was given for when the capacity building would commence, there were indications that plans to roll out activities under the support were at advanced stage.

PALWECO's objective is to decrease poverty, improve livelihoods and living standards of the population in Busia County and works with all vulnerable groups in the community, particularly in capacity building and provision of critical information that would help members of the community to find and utilize life improving opportunities.
